Gary Tahmahkera is the laboratory coordinator with the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU). He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Management from Charter Oak University, a second Bachelor of Science in Biology from ASU, and his Master of Library Science at ASU.
Gary publishes his microbiology lab manual with bluedoor. Some of Gary’s current projects include writing curriculum and instructing microbiology at ASU and providing lab support for a variety of courses at the university. He trains graduate students how to teach adult learners to use active-learning pedagogy for teaching biological sciences and mentors local high school International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement biology students.
In his spare time, Gary loves to binge-watch the Dr. Who series.A fun fact: The summer prior to Gary’s high school senior year, he got his first paying job at ASU's Electron Microscopy Laboratory, developing 35-mm film. After that summer, Gary knew he wanted to be a microbiologist. Thirty years later, Gary’s office is down the hall from the same lab where he first worked!
